Youth Big Band (Siberia)
Founded in 2013 on the basis of the Krasnoyarsk College of Arts named after P.I. Ivanov-Radkevich in Siberia, Russia with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk region.
LaFrae Sci is a founder member artistic director, composer and conductor of the Youth Big Band in Krasnoyarsk.
The Youth Big Band is a union of young and professional musicians in a jazz orchestra featuring blues, Russian folk, funk, Afrobeat, original, house and electronic music.
The project is carried out to stimulate and support young musicians of the Krasnoyarsk region, to fully promote the development of their creative capacity, improvement of professional skills, identification creative achievements in the field of musical art and empowerment through music.
Project components:
- teaching jazz, blues and improvisation for college students;
- rehearsals of music that LaFrae writes and arranges for the orchestra;
- concerts of the Youth Big Band.
The first concerts of the Big Band took place on June 27 and June 29, 2014 in the Krasnoyarsk Youth Theatre within the 4th Asia-Pacific Music Festival – the world premiere of “The Master and Margarita: meets jazz” based on the famous novel of Mikhail Bulgakov.
On June 25, 2016 the concert of the Youth Big Band took place in the Big Concert Hall of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Philharmonic as a part of the 5th Asia-Pacific Music Festival with the program “Time Travelers“.
The third concert took place on July 14 2018 as a part of the 5th International Festival of Ethnic Music and Crafts “WORLD of Siberia” with the program “Energy” – energetic and rhythmic jazz and folk.
